Toward a Circular Economy
Launch of the “PARAMOUNT BED RE-BED project”

Our Group has officially launched the “RE-BED Project” in July 2025 to promote the recycling of used medical and nursing care beds as part of our efforts to realize a circular economy.

This project is built on the foundation of the “Wide-Area Certification System” approved by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment in 2012, for which we were the industry pioneer. The system enables efficient nationwide collection and processing of used beds. By establishing a one-stop framework that integrates both delivery and collection, we have now expanded our operations to approximately 2,700 sites across Japan. In 2024 alone, we processed more than 12,000 tons of used beds, achieving a 99% recycling rate and a cumulative total of approximately 85,000 recycled beds — a leading achievement in the industry.

Furthermore, we have taken on the challenge of developing horizontal recycling technology, successfully reusing plastic components from used beds into new components of the same type. As a result, we launched the “Rakusho Fit” home care bed at the end of August 2025, featuring plastic boards containing 2% recycled resin. This is the first bed in Japan to incorporate recycled resin, and we have also adopted electric-furnace steel that reduces CO₂ emissions to roughly one-quarter to one-sixth of conventional levels, significantly lowering the overall environmental impact of the product.

Our Group will continue to advance initiatives for the realization of a circular economy and contribute to both the creation of a sustainable society and the delivery of new value in the medical and nursing care fields.
