News Release

From May 8 to 12, 2026, Paramount Bed invited Professor Makiko Tanaka, a leading authority on pressure injury prevention and positioning care and President of Yamaguchi Prefectural University, to participate in and conduct nursing seminars in Malaysia and Singapore, where Paramount Bed operates its healthcare business. The seminars provided a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of air mattresses and the “Small Change” positioning technique for pressure injury prevention.

In Malaysia, Professor Tanaka was invited as a keynote speaker at the annual Nursing Conference 2026 hosted by Sunway Medical Group, one of the country’s leading private healthcare groups. Approximately 300 nurses attended the session, where she introduced Japan’s latest approaches to pressure injury prevention and explained the benefits of advanced air mattress technologies in an accessible manner.
In Japan, air mattresses equipped with automatic repositioning functions are widely used in both healthcare and long-term care settings as an effective means of preventing pressure injuries. While demand for pressure injury prevention is also high in Malaysia and Singapore due to the need to improve patients’ quality of life (QOL), the adoption of air mattress technology remains limited, and the benefits of the “Small Change” function are not yet widely recognized.

According to Professor Tanaka, both direct repositioning by caregivers and indirect repositioning using a small pillow to trigger postural reflexes will contribute to pressure injury prevention. She highlighted Paramount Bed’s “Cocochia Riraku Flow” air mattress as a solution that effectively combines both approaches, automatically and continuously supporting pressure redistribution while enhancing patient comfort.
In Singapore, similar seminars were conducted for approximately 50 staffs working in long-term care facilities, as well as for approximately 20 nurse managers at Changi General Hospital (CGH). The sessions generated strong interest, with participants raising numerous questions.
Guided by our brand message, “WELL-BEING for all beings,” Paramount Bed will continue to share the latest knowledge and best practices in pressure injury prevention across Japan and Asia, while striving to enhance the quality of life of both caregivers and care recipients.
